ROM

 

ROM stands for Read Only Memory. Read Only means that the CPU can read or retrieve, data and programs written on the ROM chip. The computer can't write or change the information or instruction in ROM. ROM retains its contents even when the computer is turned off. ROM is referred to as being nonvolatile, whereas RAM is volatile.
